Using fan controller positioned in (front-side) 3 1/2 inch bay. Connecting two
rear and two front side fans to it. Don't want any fan cabling going through
the middle of the system. Wonder how others handle this.
Do you use electrical tape with the fan cabling against the side of the case?
If so, are you concerned about the side of the (metal) case being too hot? Is
nylon tape (or standard tape) better than electrical?
Same questions seem to apply to a lesser extent to hard disk (+ cd-rom) cabling.
I'm planning on using cable ties for oranization, but still want to keep the
layout clean. Ideas...? |

| what ive seen alot of people doing with their wires is using wire looms to organize their cabling, i also plan to do this myself in the near future, I dont think the case would get to hot if you just taped them to the case. with zip ties when you use them make sure you dont make them too tight, because ive done that with mine then when you find you need to remove them you find yourself struggling to cut it off and maybe even damage some of your wires *this has happened to me*. |

Same here, they are easy...and cheap, yay! But for making wires not go thru centre of the case, then ties arent really what your looking for. As you said, any time of reasonably strong tape will do, just make sure it only contacts the covered wire and the case itself, nothing else (im not sure what effect, if any, tape on hardware would have, as i dont use it myself, but all of the suggestions you made yourself in your first post sound fine to me. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

For cable management I use the spiral cut wire wrap and zip ties. And as far as not having the rear case fan wiring running thru the middle of the case I use extensions so that the wiring can be routed out of the way. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

What I did was remove the side panel that is closed from the case. The one on the same side as the motherboard, and routed cables and taped them to the side. It works great, and gets rid of a lot of clutter. _________________ A7N8X Deluxe Rev 1.04

For motherboards with fan headers in the middle of the motherboard, I am seriously considering removing the headers (unsodering) and resodering onto the back of the motherboard, since there is a gap between the motherboard and the case I am planning to run the fan and temp sensor wires under the motherboard, between the motherboard and the case.
In the case of the CPU fan and sensors, I hope to find a nearby hole I can use to run them thru the motherboard to the underside, if not, then to find a clear spot and drill a hole thru the motherboard and pass the wires thru the hole.
If none of that is reasonable. then shrink wrap the wires and run them to the nearest edge and along the inside of the case.
If you run the exposed wires in a very straight line and secure them directly to the motherboard they become almost invisible. So I would look for shrink wrap thats the same color as the motherboard and run them in a very straight line and probably glue them to the motherboard. Then glue a header to the edge of the motherboard and now I would plug wires into the headers at the edge of the motherboard. This would allow quick and simple removal of the motherboard and make a best effort attempt to conceal the fan/temp sensor wires.

This is a good way of doing it. But I would be reluctant to glue them to the motherboard. But would still look very nice with proper color matching. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Even just ran in a straight line above the mobo instead of glued would still look good. If you want, take a look in the case gallery at everyone's machines. You can get a lot of good ideas thaere. If you see a setup you like, ask that person how they did it. We love to talk about our machines. =P _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

I have used clear silicon "glue" on mobo's just to "hold" them in place. Doesn't hurt anything. 2˘ _________________ .
