hey guys, I got a gig of Kingston Hyper-X PC3200mem to replace some higher-latency stuff. I'll probobly be running it in a 5:4 ratio with the FSb so I can OC my CPU to around 3.5-3.6Ghz. Anyway, how low do you think I can push the timings on it? It'll be running at under 400mhz so I figure the timings might go lower than the stock 2-3-2-6-1T.........

I dont think you will get much lower than that unless you really pump up the vdimm. And even then you might not get it to work right. You will also be running it very hot if you raise the vdimm enough to run the tighter timings.

might require a volt mod to get those voltages needed too

Depends on which Kingston memory. I run mine all the way down at 400 with the vdimm at 2.7V. But I got the expensive chit, rated 22226 and I run it 22225.
When I first got the sticks I thought they were bad cause they wouldn't run reliably at default 2.6V. If you go to Kingston, and pull the spec sheet it is rated at 2.6V to 2.8V. So mine ran fine at 2.65V and will run all the way down at 2.7V reliably.
Play with it a bit and let us know.

I'd be happy just to get it down to 2-2-2-6.... I thought since that's not a big jump from 2-3-2-6 that it would be easier! Oh well, I'll just mess with 'em a bit.

2-3-2-6 is not very hard to achieve but you will have to bump the vdimm up to at least 2.8v and test the system for stability every time you change the timings. Maybe you can hit 2-2-2-5 with 2.8v. Its all about how good of ram you have and luck of the draw. . . trial and error.

I got it to 2-3-2-6 at 2.7 Vdimm and it's running very stable. I'm almost willing to bet it would runt a 2-3-2-6 at 2.6 vdimm but i'm just tired of resetting my BIOS 3 times a day.

I'll try to pump it up to 2-2-2-5 with 2.8 Vdimm... maybe it'll work... but so far this memory is excellent!

Don't bring down the voltage if you have the stability. Try for the 2-2-2-5 @ 2.8v.

Remember to run prime95 or memtest86. They are crucial.

I tried 2-2-2-5 @ 2.8Vdimm but it wouldn't boot.... I'm kinda scared to go to 2.9v since 2.8 is the highest I ever had to go before....

Don't push it too far if you don't want to. You can always try 2-3-2-5 or 2-2-2-6. those are worth a shot but once again, make sure it is stable. You don't want any corruptions.

Where can I get prime95 or some other mem tester?
