|
|
| Does ne one know what ports my router is supposed to have open to be able to host doom 3 games. Its kind of annoying. Everytime i connect to someone elses IP it has their ip and then :27666 does this mean that im connecting through that port to them. I have read all through the manual and i cant seem to find an awnser. Someone else posted on the official doom site and has still not recieved an awnser. Perhaps one of u guys know though eh. |

Yeah, the number after the colon is the port for the game, enable it on your router/firewall and hopefully you wont have a problem.
I like the way the Doom guys incorporated the numbers 666 into the port....anyone else laugh when they saw that? _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

LMAO. I never noticed that.
When you join a game, you are connection through the host's port - 27666. After you get clearance from that port, you can then play the game with the host. This is just a designated port from the game and can only be accessed through special computer talk. It makes it much more difficult for people to hack.
This doesn't really have anything to do with your computer. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

Im not knowledgeable on hardware firewalls, but cant you configure them to only access certain ports...for example, mIRC has teh port # XXX, if its not enabled, the firewall will not let it thru?
As i said, i know little on firewalls and net stuff... _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«
