Do NOT buy this:
LOGISYS 12" Blue Liquid Neon Thunder Pattern LED Light, Model "LNSBL"
It lasted 3 days. That's right. 3. When I turned it on or off, it would freeze my computer. This morning, i woke and found my computer screen froze, and my light off.... because it burned out, and in doing so, hosed my comp.
Again.. do not buy this....
So what should i get in it's place? |

Any make of cold cathode should be just fine. I think you are just unlucky with what you were sent, and i dont think there is a need for you to research cold cathodes I have a generic cold cathode and it works just fine, and was dirt cheap...just my 2p! _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

| hm... then that makes no sense.... at all, turning the light on should not freeze the computer... it just doesnt work that way... no matter how shi77y the light is. And if all else fails, check out my scanner mod!!! and make ur own light with a little soldering and a flashlight. |

Phrozt, That is a vantec stealth 520 isnt it? they are not the most trust worthy units out there.
as to why the computer would freeze when the light was switched on or off is probably due to the fact that when doing the switching it would cause a power spike in the psu sending it to your computers parts. And since they are dont like power fluctuations they tend to not operate properly. It is not an ideal situation to be switching or unplugging/plugging in items (fans, CC, or others) when your computer is on. You can fry more than just a CC. My suggestion is if you want the light on turn it on while the computer is off and if you want it off turn off the computer and then flip the switch. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! my thoughts exactly on the PSU spike, Weaz. Spike = instability
instability = bad for comp
comp needs power stability otherwise it will freeze.
Its not a good idea to plug in or unplug hardware while the pc is on.
If i were you, I would try to return the Cathode and look for some replacement help from the manufacturer.
Remember, YOU ONLY PLUGGED IT IN AND IT BURNT OUT. YOUR PSU WAS ENOUGH. YOU THINK THAT THE CC WAS DEFFECTIVE AND DAMAGED YOUR HARDWARE BECAUSE OF THIS. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

That is why you never put in or take out hardware while the pc is on!!! _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

and thats why switches for CC or anything else is bad too as they can cause voltage spikes. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
