HOW TO INSTALL SOUND SENSITIVITY TO YOUR CASE
ok i used a standard LED of the following specification
6500MCD, voltage 3.6V, current 20mA, this is then wired (via negative and positive into the sound sensitivity module (ill get to this in a minute)
i was lucky enough to have a LED spot in my case when i purchased this however, you could cut/file a small hole in the front of your case where you would the LED to be (you can also hook up sound sensitivty to UV lights)
i pre-purchased a sound sensitivty module from a electronics store.
however, you can purchase these from electronic shops and other modding places (essentially all it contains is a microphone, a 12V converter that converts the power for the LED) this also fluctuates the power supply to the LED so according to what it hears. this connects directly to a 12V molex plug inside your computer case.
the LED wires which you hooked up to the LED earlier now plug into the converter.
the one that i purchased had the option of either on/off/or sound sensitive. the microphone is wired into this little box, but ti can be opened and tweaked if you wish, just experiment with the location of the microphone.
its very simple and cheap as well the entire sound sensitive and LED thing cost me under $10. :)
there is a product sheet from the company i purchased the module from:
http://www.pccasegear.com/prod591.htm
(this also includes pictures) sorry its an Australian site guys!!! but im sure your all clever enough to track down a similiar module in your local area! :)
QUICK STEPS: -
1. purchase LED type/colour of your choice
2. purchase sound sensitive module
3. solder wires onto LED (negative/positive) use a resistor if needed - i personally didnt and it worked fine. (resistor type will depend on LED type)
4. plug wires from LED into sound sensitive module
5. plug 12V molex plug from case PSU to the sound sensitive module, set the module to your desired option = on/off/sound sensitive
6. turn on case and enjoy the new sensitivity.
it took me a couple tries of placing the mike in a location where it picked up conversations and music bass to respond
i hope this has made sense to everyone - im just writing this off the top of my head since im at work atm. (sorry i didnt post pics - havnt figured that out yet) :)
ENJOY!
