If it is a white ceramic type fuse then it is probably a "slow blow" or thermal fuse, you need to replace it with the same type. A slow blow will hold the ampage for just a little longer during a surge in power needs, like when powering on the pc and all peripherals. a thermal fuse will 'pop' and after a set amount of time it will reset.
Check the fuse wire, if it looks like a tight spring and a contact breaker then this is a thermal fuse, if not then it is prolly a slow blow. the ampage should be about 5amps, you MUST replace this with the same rating (unless you wana become a crispy critter).
If all else fails you can use a standard 5A glass cartridge fuse, though don't be suprised if this blows a lot at the PSU will draw a bit of current when powerd up, the ampage drops of quickly though. don't be tempted to use a high rated fuse, unless you KNOW it was a higher rating to start off with.

yep it says to replace with a 10amp \250v fuse
doesnt say which type.
now heres a question... are there more than one fuse on a PSU... i know on my OLD 250w theres only one. but my antec 430 had one for sure and looks like maybe 2 more _________________ Remember When Sex was safer than racing???

You sure it isn't a fuse? I found a bus type fuse just as you described. It was like a normal clear bus fuse but it had a white coat on the inside (this was in a dell)
When you open the psu, the fuse is ALMOST always right where the power cord plugs in. Is it possible that the cord itself is fused? _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |
