Alright all, we have all seen different reviews on sleeving so this has been done before but to help out future sleevers I decided to have a step by step guide instruction with some pics I took! When you first start, things will look great, you are going to want to work on it non stop! After the first hour, I’m not going to lie, it sucks. Don’t let this scare you away from sleeving though. It takes a certain rhythm to get going and be good at it.
After working for a while, I came up with some rules.
1. TAKE BREAKS, if you do this all in one sitting, u are going to HATE it. Don’t let the wires overwhelm you!
2. Practice makes perfect (or damn close) so do wires that are less noticeable before you do the ones that are directly in front of your window!
3. Get the right tools and set out a clean working area to cut down on time searching for that damn antenna. (I swear I set it right here)
4. Make sure you have enough sleeving and heat wrap before u close the box because you wont want to open it again for a while, if your going to run short order more right then.
5. Take your time, your doing the mod for you, don’t rush and screw it up!

Tools:
The tools that are needed for the sleeving process include:
An old radio scoping antenna (or a moltex pin remover if u have ten dollars for one)
A small screwdriver
Pliers
Scissors
Tape
Lighter (a long grill one works well)
PAPER AND PEN ARE A MUST!!! Before I took the connectors off any wire, I documented the position and color of the wires!!! There were multiple times that I managed to plug them in wrong. At the very end I had to reopen my case, and remove the connectors from one of my fans because I switched two of the wires!!! Luckily it was only a fan and it still worked.
And a hair dryer to shrink the heat shrink

The Process:
The process is actually a very simple one, you should start by spreading out the wire that you are going to sleeve. Then remove all of the connectors, for that wire only. While using the pieces of radio antenna, you want to find the one that is closest in size to the pin. They will most likely not fit exactly but moving the antenna in a circular motion around the pin will depress the moltex pins and the pin will slide through. WARNING, DO NOT FORCE THE PIN OUT UNDER ANY CERCUMSTANCES. APPLYING TO MUCH PRESSURE WILL BEND THE PINS AND THEY WILL BE ONE PAIN IN THE *#( TO TAKE OUT!!! For other connectors, a very small screw driver will work, apply enough pressure to push the pins out of the connector and if necessary bend them back into place once removed, if you work with a light hand and patience you will be able to do this with no problem. Once the pins are off, tape the moltex pins so as to not catch them on the sleeve, it makes life much much easier. Then choose the appropriate size of sleeving. I mostly eyeballed the length but you can measure by holding it against the wire section itself. Cut the sleeve with the scissors, and then push the sleeve over a pen or pencil to open the end and melt the sleeve together. It will now have an open end when you pull it off of the pencil because it spreads out. Then move the sleeve down the wire. There is a method to this madness, a sleeve works kind of like a Chinese finger handcuff does, to get out you have to press the ends together. The same concept applies here. While gripping the end over the wire, push it to make the sleeve expand. Then with the hand that was pushing grip the wire and remove the original hand letting the sleeving slide itself onto the wire. By doing this you are able to get over many pin connectors that jut out and it makes the process much easier.

Once the sleeve is in place, move the heat shrink onto the ends. Once the heat shrink is over the appropriate sleeving, place the connectors back onto the wire in the proper arrangement. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON’T JUST TIGHTEN THE HEAT SHRINK!!! If you do so then you might accidentally hold the wires together to the point that you can not put on the connectors. Once the connectors have been connected move the heat shrink as close as possible to the connectors and proceed to blow the hot air on them from the hairdryer.

Once you have successfully shrunken the heat shrink move on to the next section or next wire!
Remember don’t get frustrated, it took me an entire hour to do the first wire and it was one of the easier ones!!!

Feel free to ask questions and feel free to point out things that can be done easier or other ways that people have found work. Just please dont bash me since i took a lot of time on this eh

. I experimented with piping and found personally that it was more of a nuisance and it was easier to work the sleeve over the wire.

I apologize that I don’t have any pics of my tools, I will post a picture soon, I was so focused on the sleeving that I forgot.

very carefully, i placed the camera on the desk and pushed the button with a 10 second delay in shooting so i had time to position the wire :)

Very nice post, good pics. This will be helpful to a lot of people. My first power supply took 2 days and wasn't all that great. I didn't want to open the power
supply and end my warranty so I stopped short and it doesn't look all that
neat. also I tried using mini screwdrivers, paper clips etc. It was too much
work so I sprung for the proper tools and now it only takes a few seconds
to undo a connector rather than several minutes.

... it only takes me a couple seconds now to undo a connector... were u moving the antenna in a circular motion and im sure the tools might be a nice investment to have.
