Dont qoute me for this, but i think this would be the result of harware/IRQ conflicts.

Try uninstalling both devices, then put the network card in and install that, then do the same thing for the sound card.

Also when you look in Control Panel>>>>>>>>System>>>>>>Hardware>>>>>Device Manager
Are there any Yellow exclamation marks next to any pieces of hardware? If so, this will most likely be the source of your problem and you should reinstall all drivers for the affected device.

Yeah..all is cool!

To uninstall the devices you must go to Control Panel>>>>>>>>System>>>>>>Hardware>>>>>Device Manager, you must then select the pieces of hardware to be removed, then click the uninstall button at the bottom. You will need to restart after uninstalling the device, so no worries up to here!
Then, upon logging into windows, it will recognise the new hardware. You will be asked to install the drivers for it, and if you have them on disc, i suggest you use the on disc drivers instead of letting windows doing it.

Do the same for both pieces of hardware and see if you get the all clear. You won't muck anything up...if worse comes to worse, windows will do it all for you, but try to do it manually.

Im not too sure on the sound card name but the ethernet network card sounds right...i dont know too much about them as i have never had one...but i thought you said sound blaster live!?

Some one will fill you in on this...in about 30 seconds my guess.

You do have all the drivers for these pieces of hardware dont you?

Please post all of your hardware specs so we will be able to better help you.
Do you have onboard sound and the Sound Blaster card? If so, you may need disable the onboard sound.

You may also need to install drivers for your chipset seeing as how the pci cards (SB and NIC) are having trouble together.

Hold on here........I concur with Josh.....is this a plug in audio card (blaster) or onboard sound? What kinda puter are we talking about here? More hardware details may be prudent at this time.

This is his situation...currently he is using onboard sound because he had to remove his sound blaster due to conflicts with his network card. I would do this personally.

Disable Onboard sound

Uninstall Network card following instructions above

Reboot and reinstall correct drivers for your network card. (you should still have sound disabled)

Turn everything off and pull the power cord

Put your sound blaster in a free PCI slot.

Reboot back into windows and new hardware will be recognised for sound blaster

Intsall Appropriate drivers, reboot, then you should be golden.

May just need to disable onboard and find the correct slots to get both to run. What's the mobo or make / model puter?
May be a jumper to disable onboard sound.

^^^ I agree - we definately need more info to narrow it down. It is also a good idea not to use the 1st pci slot. That slot shares resources with the agp slot (assuming you have one) and has been known to also cause conflicts.

and sometimes it just takes moving a device to another slot for it to want to co-operate with the other hardware. I have had this happen in the past with a soundblaster. Just had to move it to the next slot and everything was fine.

I think the fact you only have 2 PCI slots may be causing many conflicts, anybody?

insomuchas....micro boards tend to have a lot of their resources allocated to onboard thingys. ie. sound, modem, video?, nics, yada, yada, already. 1st slot rule generally still applies. Make/model? may need to turn things off in bios or w/jumper. Already forgot OS was it XP? may need the book on mobo for this one.

I'm afraid a motherboard like that just won't handle those things together. If you can, you probably need to go back or stick with the onboard sound.
