how is your motherboard placed in your case? do you have standoff points?

try the motherboard outside the case to see if that works.

Hey Pat....Here comes my stock answers/questions to start with.
Since we have some power, (mobo light), Let's see that the two wires coming from the front panel switch are still hooked to mobo, and that the switch feels (clicks) normally. (no change)
I am also assuming that it does not Beep when button is pushed. (no post)
Assuming that's all cool...I would start unpluging unneeded things. Floppy, hd's, cdroms. Methodically.... basically you can unplug all pci cards. Everything except mobo and you must leave in the video board. Hopefully you will not have to go this far. As stated previously, getting in here will void any warranty you may have. It still could be the power supply, but I wouldn't assume so quite yet.
Also, PLEASE unplug the power cord before you reach into your case.
Rule of thumb...if that little mobo light is on you shouldn't be in there.
And...do all this on a nice desk or table, don't be rollin' around on the nylon carpet with your puter.
You probably knew this, but I felt it needed to be said in this forum every so often.

yes, the mobo must only touch a static free surface (i.e.- cardboard) never carpet. one little jolt could ruin it.

Unless of course you plug the other back in and it works. Then you pull your hair out.
But.... that is one way, to see if the supply is bad.

i really really don't thing this is a psu issue. if it was, then the steps you mentioned would be a good way to figure it out. have you tried 2old's or my suggestions yet? that way you will not have to buy a new psu if it isn't necessary.

i think the mobo may have grounded out against the case . . . my 2 cents.

have you tried the mobo on a piece of cardboard?

try shorting the power turn on jumpers with a good screwdriver (i.e.- no rust)

you do not necessarily have to buy a psu. we are trying to save you money!!!

yeah...switches can fail too,
it'd be a real bummer if you bought a new psu and all it was was a broken power switch!!

Yeah, on some cases the switch will come out of it's plastic clips on the front panel. You think you're pushing it, but not really getting the switch. When I find these I glue them in.
