Ok after this tint I'm on right now (X800, Sata 160gb HDD) I plan on buying the setup Ham has (Tornado on a SP-95 (i think that's right) ) But I was thinking... why not get a few 5.25" fan controller bays, and fill all 8 (6 case fans plus CPU and soon-to-be blowhole) with Tornados? I'd have to get noise reducers for all of them and my rig would sound like a car.. but DAMN would it be cool..... BUT will that many high-end fans sap to much of my pwr?
Keeping in mind this will be 8 Vantec Tornados, ATI x800 Pro, SATA 160HDD and a CD Burner (52x if that matetrs) and DVD drive.... will my PSU explode? I currently have a 550W "Silence Blue" PSU which youguys saw in my pic-post, that comes with an 80mm fan on the side and a 120mm (maybe?) on the bottom (i could replace the 80mm with a tornado too ) so will i turn on my pc...get an earthqauke and then have shrapnel blown into the side of my face at high veloicty? |

| just get 2 fan controller have 2 fans on each knob wont hurt and it wont use too much power man 550W is plenty the x800pro doesnt use that much power well not as much as the 6800 series does. and BTW its a SP-97 for AMD and SP-94 for Intel. |

LOL.....i think you should be fine.......but make sure you filter things properly.......a mchine with that much CFM will kick up more dust than you can imagine........=]
and yeah i would recommend fan controllers....something simple would be fine........just to shut up those turbine noisemakers when youre trying to sleep....=] _________________

SP-94... i knew that.. ok I didn't but i was close! anywas.. i made up a basket on Frozencpu.com of this stuff and it's going to be around 180 bucks for the setup (the fans + heatsink)
Yeah I figured 550W would be enough.. btu I dunno.. i thought if I had them at high speed during instense gameplay it'd be hella taxing on the PSU... btu I suppose that's what it's made for.. thnks FTR |

Yep. Alot of money in fans and alike. You might have to chain your rig down too. So figure a few bucks for chain.
You can buy a cheap window A/C for that. Hmmmmm. MOD IT TIME!!! _________________ .

Guys guys guys!
You don't need all this airflow and cost for a properly cooled rig.

as Nathan has said you dont need that much airflow and noise to have a cool computer. And besides you would have a problem with small children and furry creatures getting stuff in the intake.
All you need is to have proper airflow and you will keep your rig cool. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

well i will only have 3 fans that actualy go to the outside (2 in the side window, one on my blowhole) the rest are all inside.... right now, since i dont have my blowhole yet, i only have the 2 side fans, one of which i have blowing inward (it's located in front of the AGP slot roughly) and the other is blowing out... i dunno what else i can do....
As for the fans that was a just a "hey that'd be cool" thing, the only one i'm probably really going to buy is the one for the SP-94 and maybe for my blowhole |

I wouls stick with only one tornado on the SP-94, and a few good 80mm fans for the case,
(maybe one tornado for rear exaust), and a top blowhole to vent heated air.
all those tornados are gonna sound like an F-18 takin off...and still only be as cool as your room temps are, just keep a steady flow of air through the case front to back, and let the SP-94 take care of the CPU! _________________ Yeah....... ok |

^^^^ wise words. You just need a flow thru the case and like he said you are only able to cool as low as your room temps. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

You don't have any front intakes?

my case only has one rear exaust and it's a 60mm well there's about a 1.5" x 7" section on the back that has a bunch of holes, but you can;t get any fans on it |
