after reading an article in the other doom 3 thread...it sounds like ID are ready with the game so it should be shipping early august..........well, thats what i made of it.

no gold doesnt mean that it is time for the release. It means something close to what Jay has stated. Quake III didnt go gold until long after its release. But most likely in this case just PR.

The article I read said 8/3 in US (Tuesdays are traditional here) and 8/6 in UK Josh. So we have three days to tell you all about it.

And I think Gold in this case means, ID wants to make some gold off of it, since they spent so much gold to make it.

Of course HL2's right behind in it's release, so ID wants to get the premium gold as quick as possible.

and whats interesting is the soud you get fromteh game will be teh exact same from an onboard sound or from a SB audigy 2 platinum pro, becasuet eh sound is embedded intot he game engine so haveing an expencive sound card wont help at all in DOOM3 and im safe cause i meet all requirments woohoo.
