i was just curious as if you could swap out an inverter from a neon light and use it for a cold cathode? i know the input voltage is the same (12v) but is there a huge difference in output voltage? i wouldnt mind it if it was a little dimmer, if the neon's inverter put out a little less voltage than the cathode's, but i dont want to burn it out if the neon's inverter put out a ton more voltage than the other. what do you guys think?

well, is there any way for you to check or find out the output voltage? do you have a multimeter to test it? if so i can help you use it to determine the voltage.

I wouldn't try.

I think you can buy inverters now with 2 or 3 cold cathode hookups.

cold cathod lighting operates a LOT cooler than Neon, wich leads me to believe there is a power difference, I found this article, might help! :^)

ok yeah i figured it out... i knew cc's used a different gas than neons and that they ran cooler. however, the voltages required by the tubes- which are provided by the inverters- is much different. so thats a no-go i guess lol... ah well. i guess im just cheap :-)
