Hi I have a file that I downloaded that i cannot delete. Its a movie and everytime I try to delete it, it says " Could not delete because it is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that may be using the file and try again" I have tryed rebooting my system and scanning for viruses using Panda ActiveScan but there are no viruses found so that can't be the reason. Any help regarding deleting this file would be much appreciated.

Thanks

If you are running windows XP then his is what you do. otherwise wait for someone else to help you.

Step 1
Close out ever single program that has your login name by it even explorer.exe

Step 2
Keep taskmanager open and click on new task and type in cmd and pres enter

Step 3
In command prompt type cd.. and that will get you to c:> or wheatever your system drive letter is.

Step 4
type in cd ______ the folder in which the file is located if its on desktop then you will do this cd documents and settings, cd desktop

Step 5
type dir to list wahts in the folder find your file

Step 6
type del ______ filename and press y then you are done DOS is extremely powerful tool it gets around that crappy its being sued by another program bullshit that windows does a lot
