gettin dell mobo to work with new case panel

unfortunately, when i got a computer it was a dell

. i've changed the vid card and just changed the case with much struggle. the dell mobo has its own 9-pin thing that lets it only work with its own front panel so right now the on/off and reset buttons, usb ports, and audio ports on my front panel dont work. i couldnt figure out how to connect them to the dell mobo. if anyone has any idea how to, plz explain

There should be some wires coming out of the front of the motherboard. What is the model number and type of motherboard u have so i can look for a diagram for u but basically the wires from the front of the case need to be plugged into the motherboard in the correct order

Or you could just get an axe... and take care of the dell motherboard and buy something else

Yeah trying to move dell into something other than dell is going to be quite a task.

Togglehead has some dealings with this chore maybe he can give some advice.

I moved my POS dell into an X-SuperAlien Case not too long ago, if you look at the wiring on the little front panel thing on the dell, you can reverse-engineer it to work with the new case,
(I just cut the dell wires and tinned them with solder and stuck them into the appropriate connectors in the new case), dont even try to decypher the wiring for the USB and audio jacks, you'll get a REALLY BAD HEADACHE, i just left mine out till i get my Chaintech board,
POST will tell you that front usb not detected just hit F1 to continue, also be carefull of the atx connector, some dell's have the wiring all back-asswards!!

yea, thanks for the info. i think im gonna end up just buying a new mobo. also, im gonna s*** on the dell mobo, then try to sell it on ebay, because by shitting on it i will raise the price

LOL - I hear the only thing better than a dell is s*** so you'd probably make some money too! At least s*** is easier to clean out of a case than a DELL motherboard is....

i bought that stupid dell cause it was cheap, then wanted to upgrade it, should have built my own from the start. oh well!

yea, after changing the motherboard and the case/power supply of a dell computer, it will be undellified. also, the cards that came with the comp might be crappy, so i already changed those. all i need to do is get a new mobo
