Hey guys, i got a watercooling kit, 2 vantec tornado exhaust fans and a thermaltake 74CFM fan on my rad at the top sucking air in through the top, through the rad and then into the case. Also, my PSU has 2 fans, one on bottom and 1 at the back exhausting outside.

Will adding 2 vantec stealth's to the front of the case where the harddrives sit make any difference?

Thanks.

I should add that those fans would suck air in.

note : have the fan on the top suck air out the hottest air in your case will be at the top *thanks to magic school bus Ive learned that hot air rises* and it would be much more effecient to blow the hot air out of ur case.

it would help the flow if you had one or two intake fans just as long as you exhaust more air than you take in.

I understand...but with as much hot air that already goes out the back, not too much of it gets to go out the top anyways...and also, i need to have it suck in the top because if i push hot air out the top, then the hot air goes through my rad

With watercooling I dont think you will have as much heat buildup at the top anyway. I would leave it like it is pulling cool air through the rad. Although this does pull the heat from the rad into your case but if your case temps are fine then you should be good to go.

with adding the front fans you will increase the air flow over your hard drives. And it will keep them cooler and should increase their longevity at least in theory.

Blowing hot air into the case?

Not good.....

Yea but this is the samething as some putting the rad. on the front intake fan to get cool air through the rad.

The rad should be put on the rear exhausts.

so that you try to cool your cpu and what ever else you have waterblocks on with warm air? it doesnt work like that I have tried. The best temps happen when the radiator is mounted at the top and the air is drawn into the case. This way the air that is drawn over the radiator isnt as warm as what is already in the case. So this way you can still cool your mobo and other parts and still being able to cool the cpu the best.

What about cases that have intakes blowing on the hard drives, take Thermaltake for example.

What about them Zhen?

It is good having cool air flow over your HDD's.

Do you really think that the case temperature is going to be warm if you have the CPU and the videocard both running through watercooling.

You don't blow hot air into your computer.

The whole point of watercooling is to remove those two heat sources from inside of the case.

Blowing their hot air into the case is counter productive.

OK just to prove a point I reversed my fans on my radiator.

At idle my temps are as follows.
Case 31c
CPU 37c
PWM 38c
Ambient 26.2c
and this is with the EXACT SAME fans for intake and exhaust running at the same speed.

Starting config was two 120mm fans intake over the radiator and one 120mm front intake (blowing over the HDDs) All of these filtered. And one 120mm exhaust. All fans SilenX brand (without their resistor) on a vantec nexus four fan controler.

Case 29c
CPU 34c
PWM 36c
Ambient 26.4c

do you see a difference here??
The water temps have changed ALOT. I have two temp probes that I use to monitor the temp going to and from the radiator and they have both risen by 4-5c. Nathan I have to agree with you on alot of issues but on this one I have to go with what I know works.

the first set is with the rad fans pulling air out of the case and with two other 120's pushing air into the case

so the first set is "after" and the second is the way that I have been running it and the way that I have found is best "before"

Those number don't make sense bro.

Blowing hot air into the case makes for a lower case temperature?

Not to be rude, but physics and thermodynamics is against you there.

it is very possible that the rad is getting cool air right away and its keeping the waterblocks cooler and in turn keeps the case cooler.

i admit it doesn't seem to make much sense but i will not dub it impossible.

Well i have 2 tornados exhausting on the back so there is hardly ever any hot air in the case...and the abient around the case is about 19C...so 19C air is being pulled from the top, through the rad and into the case...i'd say that's pretty cool air to be cooling a rad with...and considering i'd yet to see ym CPU go above 36C with it overclocked to 200 X 11 i think i may just keep it like this...i put some fans in front to get some air blowing over the HDD's and now i'm just going to keep her like this.

What Weazy is trying to show is that the cooler air coming through the radiator cools the water a little more to drop the cpu temps around 4C.
Keep in mind the air pulled through the radiator isnt going to be much warmer than the outside air. Certianly not warmer than the air in the case.
So I dont think there is enuff heat from the radiator to affect the case temps in a way that will cause any heat problems.

exactly!

With the air being drawn into the case thru the raidator the case temps and the water temps are 30-32c with an ambient room temp or 26c.

I will take pics tonight and then draw on them to be able to show how the fans were set-up and what temps were achieved with each set-up. actually this may take a day or two as I wont have a day off for a while now. But I will get this info for you.
