Well I think I'm gonna go with the 80mm Thermaltake Smart fan II just because it will only be loud and push 74 CFM only when the cpu temps get hot while playing games, but will be quiet when I'm surfin' the internet or just listening to music.

And then I'll get just a standard Thermaltake 120mm case fan for the bottom intake that will run 74cfm full time. Heck, I'll probably just set both fans to run at 74CFM both, just to keep it an even flow in and out. The Smart Fan II is about 10db quieter than the Tornado, so I might as well just go with that one...

Looks like i have TWO intake fan locations. One in the front 80mm and one in the bottom 120mm.

Is it going to negatively affect the temps if i have MORE CFM's pumping into the system than are being drawn out through the back?

I'm thinking of having a thermaltake smart fan II running up front at 75 CFM and a 120mm Vantec Stealth fan running at 35 CFM (BOTH ARE INTAKES)

and then having a single 75CFM Smart Fan II pumping air out of the back.

Is this bad? I want to have as many fans as possible and it looks like the most I can have on my particular case is 2 intakes and 1 exhaust, so I want to make the best of what I have, especially considering that I want to overclock my AMD 64 3200+ as well...

Having them ballanced is the best bet is balanced air flow. So get a Stealth 80 and 120 and then use the TT fan at the back and you will do well.

I don't find balancing them out works best for me...i have 2 exhaust Tornados and then 1 on the top hole that my radiator is on that is a thermaltake ~74CFM fan...i find the Tornados work EXCELLENT for removing any hot air that may be around and the thermaltake pulls enough air in to keep the RAD cool...i don't know if it is because mine is watercooled, but i think the dual exhaust in the back works better then just the same air in same air out equation. Also, MAKE SURE that if the balance goes in any direction, make sure there is more pushed out then is pulled in because if you have more air ocming in then going out, that is when you get the big dust building up inside cases.

Not going against anyone but remember guys, you don't have to install high flow fans for good cooling.

Hmm, I may just go with the Thermaltake Smart Fan II exhausting out the back about 75CFM and then just getting a 120mm fan rated at sub-60CFm just to make sure. I do have the option of having two intakes...one 80mm and one 120mm. Any suggestions on which fans to get to keep them quiet and combined under about 75CFM???

like TH Nathan said...you dont NEED high cfm fans for good cooling...

And trying to find a single fan running 75CFM that is quiet...good luck!! if you mean more then 1 fan pushing combined 75CFM then that is possible...just look at all the good brands posted here and see what they have for a low CFM and high CFM...decide which you want and go for it.

use the TT fan at the back and then a 120mm stealth and a 80mm stealth for intakes and you will be fine!

more exhaust then input just by a little bit to avoid the annoying dust problem.

Not a very good setup.

You ALWAYS need more exhaust than intake.

Hmm maybe I should just go with a ~50CFM intake fan and then one ~75 CFM exhaust fan out the back and just not use the second intake fan postition at all?

Would that be good, having so much more exhaust pull than intake?

hey man, what would be best is if you actually get this in there as soon as possible!! it's been over a week for this thread!! i have 2 X 75CFM fans exhausting and only one 75 CFM fan intake...so i have alot more air coming out then going in...it's not that big of a deal!! if anything it's better, because that means your hot air doesn't just linger around inside the case! with so much air being pushed out, it barely stands a chance!

TT 80mm at 100% = 75 cfm (from one of his earlier posts)
80mm stealth =27 cfm
120mm stealth = 53 cfm
yields total of 80cfm in and 75 out and that leaves 5 cfm of fresh air for the psu.

remember you need a little positive airflow into the case so that you dont starve your psu of air.

I know man, I know. I will order it within the next day or two. I'll get the 75CFM Thermaltake exhaust 80mm fan out the back and then a Vantec Stealth 120mm fan for the intake in the bottom.

That should be 53CFM INTAKE and 60-75CFM EXHAUST.

The best price i can find on teh 120mm vantec stealth is $14.99 and the Thermaltake 80mm smart fan II best price ois $6.99.

Anyone know where to get a 120mm vantec stealth for cheaper somewhere online?

What if your PSU has 2 fans in it?

You guys keep talking about dust bunnies, just use a filter on the intake fans and you dont have this problem.

^^^^^ *nods*

even if your psu has three fans on it

Any scenario. What if at full load playing games for like 2 hours, your PSU is still cool? IE, put hand over exhaust fan on psu and the air is cool?

you wont feel cool air coming out of your psu it will always be warm. As the internals will always be creating heat. Sometimes more than others. But you have to remember is that there isnt very good flow thru the psu and that is why if you hold your hand behind the psu fan it isnt moving a whole lot of air.

Bottom line is you dont move alot of air out of your case thru your psu. That is why you dont count on them for case ventilation. But you cant forget about them when you are setting up your fan combos. If you have too much exhaust you stand the chance of starving the psu of somewhat fresh air.

So should I go with both the 80mm and the 120mm INTAKE and just the 80mm exhaust to have a total of +5 more CFM's INTO the case??

Or should i have even more CFM's into the case, or less intake than exhaust??

Also, where are some good fan filters?

Yes use the two intakes and the one exhaust.
Intake- 120mm stealth
Intake- 80mm stealth
Exhaust- 80mm TT and do use the thermal feature.

here are a few filters

The temperature control feature? Doesn't that require dissasembling your cpu heatsink and fan and everything to put the sensor on the cpu?

I hope its not hard. I'm a noooooooooob.

Dude, positive airflow is bad.

It just causes circulating wam air.

is there possitive airflow??? if the exhaust fan moves 75 cfm and the psu moves about 4-5 cfm (at least) and the total intake is 80 cfm and 27 cfm of that is hindered by the front of the case. In the end the 75 cfm of the exhaust fan will be more than enough to take care of the amount of intake.
