ummm, i tried to play CS once and killed the wrong people . . . i think . . . and i got killed really fast . . . i'd be up for it though.

other games i am good at - wolfenstien enemy territory (a free game we can all play)
starcraft/broodwar
cod
bf1942/vietnam/dc/dcx . . .
halo/haloce

actually sorry to telly ou but those CD's will not install into steam, any game you want to play you have to play through steam if you want the latest updates, fixes and better graphics. you cna install those games from the cd's but you wont have them fully updated and they wont play online becasue they arent through steam so i would just dl the steam client and install the games from steam. the steam client has all the games with it but they are compressed highly and when you double click the name it will install and then update.

i brought the HL pack and your right, steam doesnt recognise the CD-key

But i can still play it thru jolt and gamespy etc, and i can get all the updates from other places if i need to, which i do seeing as the version of CS i got is 1.3!

lmao 1.3 is so old thats not even funny lol. i would just use teh HL cd-key you got with that and play those games through steam. 1 its easier and they will be automatically updated 2 1 cd key will get you all those games except blue shift which was a gay expac anyways.

thats wierd i recommend buying the stand alone half-life game that always works ive hade to buy 3 in my life time of playing CS.

i may take it back, seeing as all of the games accept blue shift work witout a disc, ill get my noeyback and get HL on its own, until then i can play CS on any server except steam, which is ok.

i have had problems with my cd key on steam also. i don't know how i did it but i managed to install steam without a key. they just sent me an email or something

you could get a new cd-key i did by calling tech support..

I lost it when i moved( i really did), told them just that and they gave me a fresh cd-key

just 5> minutes, to me that was great service. no questions asked

of course that was like a year ago, they might ask questions now???? i don't know.

I am fed up with this bloody CS retail piece of crap i brought!!!
So, i installed the game, which was originally v1.0 which was bad enough, and the only updates on the disc were v1.3.....so......i decided to d/l the v1.5 retail update (apparently) which was 121mb, so this was about to take me 11 hours to d/l. Then after getting it all and being all ready to play it, i installed the thing and started up CS, but nooooooooooooooooooooo, dont give me v1.5, thet gave me v1.1.0.8, whatever that is, so the first message i recieve is, "your CS executable is out of date, would you like to d/l the updates?"

So, can somebody please tell me were to d/l a LEGIT 1.5 or 1.6 RETAIL update for CS. Pleeeeeeeeeease tell me cause i really need to play it and i dont ever want to wait around for 11 hours waiting for a f**ked up patch again!!!!

there is no more retail of counter-strike man, you have to play 1.6 through steam theres no way out of it.
