software for checking FPS during games??

Hey fellas, is there anything I can get to run that would log the FPS my vid card puts out during gameplay? I see Tom's Hardware has something like that that they use for reviewing vid cards.....??

i dont know of any software myself, even though there is probably some, but i do know that in some games you can type commands into the console bar to show FPS, for example in UT2003, you can press tab (i know its not the console but hey) and type "stat fps" or something along those line, and it willl then display in the top right the current FPS and average FPS.

Also, places like TH, use specially designed tech demos which test out all aspects of the games visual effects (a bit like 3dmark 03) then gives them a score at the end. I doubt that you can get these tech demos though as an individual, if you can, sorry for the false information, but i think nate, as a reviewer and all, will be able to let you in on a little bit more info!!
