motherboard temperature.

Hi there.
I was wondring what the temperature for my motherboard should be?
Right now asus pc probe says that my motherboard temp. is 40 C and cpu is 42 C idle. Is this too high?

What are your load temps?
Compared to my idle system and CPU temps, yes they are high.
Do you have an AMD or P4?

Ok. My load temps are Motherboard 41 C and cpu 44 C and here is what a have:
Barton 2500+ @ stock settings(haven't overclock).
Volcano 9 + AS3.
5 case fans(3 intake and 2 outtake).
Raidmax scorpio 868 case.
The temperature outside the house is 28 C but feels like 34 C with humidity.

Yea...the cpu temperature doesn't concern me but i thought that the motherboard temperature was supposed to be 5 or 6 C less than the cpu temp.
Btw. i opened my case and notice that the air coming out of the volcano 9 is not coming out straight, is coming out at a 45 degree angle towards my video card..is this normal?.......and my temps have drop to 37 C motherboard and 39 C cpu with computer open and a house fan blowing towards cpu and motherboard(wow is the volcano 9 loud at 5400rpms).

your temps seem fine. it is my experience that with some motherboards (especially the asus amd's) that they can read higher temps depending on where it takes the mobo's temps. for example, my msi mobo reads the mobo temp as 38C load on a mild day whereas the abit reads 29C load on a mild day. they are only a few feet apart too.

Ok, hold on, 40 degree case temperature is not that good.

You need to update your case ventilation.

Hi there.
Ok...i recently bought this case http://raidmax.com/products/products_display.php?page_no=3&cID=1&pID=7 along with the s & s vocano 9. The case has two (80mm i think) on the back.....outtake, two on the from(there is only space for two)........intake and one 80mm RGB tri-color LED case fans in the middle of the case window(outtake initially but change to intake).
How would i update my case ventilation?......any suggestion will be appreciated.

I would change the window fan around to intake and install a blow hole on top.
You would be surpise what a fan on top will do for temps.

"install a blow hole on top" means cutting a hole on the case right?....i was thinking about that.......no experience needed to do this right(i hope :) ).
The fan in the window is intake(blowing air in right?).

a blowhole should help quite a bit. i had no experience cutting mine and it turned out ok. hehehe

yeah just dont use a huge jigsaw or a butter knife......lol

a dremel will do you fine BUT REMEMBER

measure twice........cut once

don't use a huge jig saw or a jig saw in general? i used a jig saw and it worked perfectly. left some sharp edges but nothing that couldn't be dulled up with a dremel.

uhh,as long as your mobo doesnt get over 46-50 deagrees,it SHOULD be alright,im not making any promess's,you might have bad luck with overclocking stability if its that temp...or instead of taking the chance of cutting your case right away,you could try to put a active fan chipset coooler,if your motherBIRD doesnt have one,i use http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-116-010&depa=1 and it works awsome!

You can't properly cool computer components with 40 degree air.

Blowhole will really help with exhausting the hot pool of air trapped in the top of your case.

One question....once a make the hole, correct if i'm wrong but an 80mm fan taking air out goes in the new hole right?

Why are you worrying about your cpu cooling when it is your case temperature with the problem.

That ducting thing is for cpu's.

The ducting is really not needed see you have the side fan blowing air directly into the cpu area.

The blowhole will really help you out.

You should feel the warm air exhausting when I am holding my hand above my exhaust.
