In the middle of game play, it randomly kicks me out into Windows. What would cause this? it doesn't give me a message or anything, it just suddenly closes the game and takes me back to my desktop. Upgrading to CAT 4.5 drivers from the 4.4 drivers didn't fix it. It was also doing before I put in my 430W power supply.I am thinking that is it possible my computer does not have enough ram. BTW I run games with all unnecessary programs closed.

IMportant computer specs as follows:

Antec True Power 430W power supply

Iwill K7S3-N Motherboard

512 megs of 3200 DDR ram

ATI Radeon 9800 PRO

Mine does that with StarCraft . I don't have the latest cat drivers yet, takes like 5 hours to download.

Fresh out of the game the board temp is around 32 degrees C and the CPU is around 48 degrees C. I don't know my video card temps. It's weird because it only does it in Battlefield Vietnam. It works fine in Battlefield 1942 and the Desert Combat mod for 1942...

And no, I am sure that I am not pressing the windows key because that wouldn't cause the game to completely shut down. [/list]

Is there a program that can moniter the temperature of my video card? It feels pretty hot so it is possible that it is heating up pretty bad in game play.

yes it would cause the game to shutdown... like I said SOMETIMES. it did a lot with my old computer, when I played HL:CS, the usual reason is that errors occur when you load out of games to windows screen therefore causing it to manually shutdown the game.

check out majorgeeks.com for monitoring software

no hard feelings...right :)

if you visit the bf:v website forums you will realize that there are TONS of other people with problems, whether they are what you are experiencing, performance issues, graphics problems, etc. The main reason that everyone is giving is that the code written for the game is crap. This is also the main reason that it is taking so damn long for a patch, they are re-writing most of the code. I have a great system and I am forced to play this game at 800X600 with low settings and no lightmaps or shadows online or else i lag heavily. trust me, visit the boards, and you will see many like you. A lot of people say they have problems with ATi cards but there are problems with other hardware too.

oops sorry i was thinking of cpu, etc. my bad....

I know a way to find out temp..... it'll cost some money but it's pretty cool

great website thinkgeek.com

LASER-SIGHTED MINITEMP $99.99 if you look around other places could find for cheaper....

description from thinkgeek.com:

Once you play with this neat gadget, you will probably find yourself checking the surface temperature of everything in sight. Simply squeeze the trigger and an instant reading, based on infra-red emissions, appears on the backlit display. With a temperature range of 0 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, you can check the temperature of that overclocked chip you have running in your case. Also check your oven, refrigerator, heater, AC, fish tank, wine cellar, and so on. Accuracy of +/- 2 percent. Selectable in Celsius or Fahrenheit readings.

The MiniTemp includes a backlit display and a laser pointer to assist in sighting your target. The MiniTemp is perfect for overclockers, gadget freaks and home improvement do-it-yourselfers. Use it to spot costly energy losses around windows, doors, and to monitor temperatures around the house and workshop. It's fast, fun and easy to use.
