I have :
AMD Athlon 64 3200
ASUS K8V
Western Digital 74 Gb 10K RPM SATA
The mobo has connections for SATA and RAID SATA. I can't figure out how to install WIN XP. I've made driver disks on another computer and I push F6 during loading to install scsi device.
I always get the same reply - No hard drives can be found. I think I've tried everything. I know hd is plugged in properly because it gets warm after a few minutes and it is noticed during bios loading.
Somebody on another forum mentioned possibly the jumpers are in the wrong position. It is in the position it got mailed to me as.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ please email me @ aamsergie@hotmail.com |

when installing windows you have to press f6 like you said... but you also have to have the raid/sata floppy disk in... it prolly came with your mobo. if you didnt get one youll have to make it. on the drivers disk that definately came with your board there should be a driver you can copy to floppy disk(this is only if your mobo didnt come with a floppy) after pressing f6 a screen should pop up sometime during the install. it will say to insert the disk into floppy. do that. another screen should pop up that lets you decide what windows you have(nt4,xp, etc.) choose one. the drivers should be installed. now windows can detect the drive.
as for the jumper... i have never heard of a sata drive using them. as i last recall you should take them off if you recieved a drive with them.

yip, your motherboard manual will help on this and make sure you have your SATA set as the primary boot drive.
After you press f6, it will ask for the driver floppy. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Motherboard manual is useless for specific instructions. I've read it back and forth and inside/out.
DVD burner needs to be the primary boot drive
I've already made driver disks and have selected them after F6. Nothing works. _________________ please email me @ aamsergie@hotmail.com |
