|
|
i just got the Aero 7+ and it was working great, then i tried to turn the fan so that it was getting fresh air, and now it just turns itself off after a second of trying to boot, then when i reboot, it runs at 1150mhz, and i look at the system monitor in BIOS and it says my CPU is 160+ degrees, but i just booted up and in windows it says my CPU temp is 91, but when i restart it just wont boot again any solutions or anyone with a similar problem _________________ Barton 2600+ @ 2480mhz (11.5 x 215), 2x256 Kingston PC2700, Radeon 8500, Asus A7N8X |

did you turn just the fan, or the heatsink itself? if you turn the heatsink, it may not be making contact with the cpu core anymore. this will cause the problem you desribed. double check and make sure the heatsink is sitting in its proper position. most heatsinks are only made to fit in one direction. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

i left the heatsink in place, and turned just the Fan on top of the heatsink by unscrewing it, turning it to face the front of my case instead of downward, then screwed it back in, and now its not working _________________ Barton 2600+ @ 2480mhz (11.5 x 215), 2x256 Kingston PC2700, Radeon 8500, Asus A7N8X |

the fan is working, im pretty sure the computer thinks its overheating so it wont boot, but the heatsink is cool, so i know something is tweaking somewhere
ill work with it some tomorrow _________________ Barton 2600+ @ 2480mhz (11.5 x 215), 2x256 Kingston PC2700, Radeon 8500, Asus A7N8X |

reinstall the whole heatsink.
The heatsink should never be cool.
ALWAYS take the whole thing out of the computer to work on it. _________________ Owner & Administrator

i guess that must have been the problem, i think it was such a struggle to get my heatsink on before that it must have moved the AS5 around, but i just reapplied it and put the HS back on, and now im running 36C/96F full load, but my CPU fan is on high which is sorta loud, i might have to start overclocking it now i can handle some higher temps _________________ Barton 2600+ @ 2480mhz (11.5 x 215), 2x256 Kingston PC2700, Radeon 8500, Asus A7N8X |

I had the same exact problem on my 2800+ with the TT volcano 11 until I realized I had the heatsink on backwards=)=)=)=)=) _________________ AMD Athlon XP 3200+ "Barton" 400mhz FSB

thats the way this sounded at first. you always wanna have a heatsink seated properly on a cpu.
funny anecdote - i was helping a buddy rebuild his computer (new processor and stuff). we put the new cpu in and he wanted to test it to see if it worked. i was trying to put the heatsink and some compound on and he said to just leave it off. i told him that was a BAD!!!!! idea and that he could easily burn out the cpu that way. he still didn't want to put it on and long story short, he burnt out his new processor. the computer was only on for 10 seconds max. let that be a lesson to you . . . always have a properly seated heatsink - check and double check to make sure its on there. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |
