AMD cpu Cooler Help

i have an barton xp 2600+ and i have overclocked it to 2185 mhz (11.5 x 190)
my case has 2 80mm exhaust in the rear, 1 intake on the side of the case, and i just recently added 2 80mm intakes in the front, i am thinking about going SATA for my HD, but i did just buy round IDE cables so that helped cooling a little bit, by my CPU still runs about 40-45 C, about 105 F up to almost 120 F when its really hot, i am using the stock CPU Cooler and was wondering if anyone has a recommended fan upgrade, i am looking for a quiet fan, that is a step up from the retail fan

my motherboard runs about 22-30 C, around 70-80 F

any other solutions would be great, the 2 front intake fans i just put on had a very little effect on temperature, maybe 1 or 2 C, i think that they are too far from the CPU to do too much for the temperature

also if anyone knows a solution to tidy up the cables, that would be great

i've been mainly looking at CPU fans, but any temperature solution that is reasonable price will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Your temps. sound pretty normal to me but an aftermarket heatsink sure wont hurt things.
I bet some of the AMD guys could tell you which heatsinks works best for this processor.

I used the Extreme Volcano 12 for a little while on my 2.3 gHz 2800+, and it cooled the processor extremely well...about an 8 degree C difference between that and the stock heatsink. However, it was RIDICULOUSLY loud...it comes with a fan controller for your 3 1/2 bay, and you can turn it down to about 3500 RPMs and still have decent cooling and not a whole lot of noise.

In any case, if you want a balance between superior cooling and a low noise profile, I would check out the Tt Silent Boost HSF. It's cheap, pushes a lot of CFM, and is obviously designed to be quiet.

i see, im thinking of pushing it higher because it has run perfectly stable at these speeds approximately a 3200+, and i know others that easily push it to 3500+ but with summer approaching i am worried that overheating might hit me quick

here are all my specs

AMD Barton 2600+
Asus A7N8X
2x 256 PC2700 Kingston RAM
Radeon 8500 *ewwwww i need to get something new soon*
SB Audigy Gamer
40GB WD 7200 RPM EIDE *im getting a new HD very soon*
52x CD Burner
4x DVD Burner
Cables going every which way

any ideas what i should do next thats pretty inexpensive?

I would just replace the stock heatsink for now, might wanna take a look at the thermalright SLK 948U. This with a 92mm fan runs pretty quite its what i use on my intel (fits either one) but it cools very well. I believe the motherboard has to be removed to install it on an AMD board is the only downside.

Then you can upgrade your video card or harddrive whichever you think you need the most.

try a coolermaster aero 7+, until i had my problems (which should be sorted sometime this week, YEAH!!!!) my temps were very low at only 2600rpm (it can go to 3500rpm and its not that loud, unnoticeable if your using speakers at a low volume

).
When running the fan at 2600 and having the CPU at stock speeds (2400+) load temps were just under 40C and that was WITHOUT any case fans.
You also dont need a screwdirver to install it or uninstall it and the big fan on the top can be rotated at 90 degree intervals depending on which direction you want the air from!
Only downside is that it weighs ALOT! but that doesnt really matter as it easily fits with 3 teeth thingys (cant think of what you call them)

your temps are fine at the moment but if you still want better cooling heres some advice:

a good inexpensive upgrade would be the thermaltake volcano 7+.
if you don't mind spending a lot of money, try a little more expensive heatsink from thermaltake - the sk's or the sp-97. you will have to buy your own fan with the thermaltake but their heatsinks rock.

well, i just bought the Coolermaster Aero7+ after looking at its advertised specs and some test showed pretty good results, thanks for your help

Try a thermalright heatsink with a 92mm fan.

Quiet and very good cooling.

what motherboard do you suggest, this motherboard does have really good performance though

for now... you can't boost the voltage high enough for serious overclocking...
Abit, EPOX, or DFi Nforce based boards those three companies allow for more voltage
