Here is the little place that my components like to call home!

This is the MAXTOP 4032 rack server case (seen in pictures).

As uses go, this system is a do-all work horse. It is always on as an FTP server for my close friends and family. It is also my primary internet machine. Additionally, however, I use it as a media center. I have 26' of S-Video to the other side of the room where I watch movies on my RCA Entertainment Series TV and output the sound via optical to my JVC FS-V9MD desk system and 200W RCA 12" subwoofer. This ruckus can be heard 2 floors below me here in the dorms.

As for the case, she's solid. Forty pounds solid acutally (theft deterrant). Other than the fact that rack systems are just cool looking, they have a practical, straight through air flow which I have accentuated greatly, as seen in the pictures. I intend to add one or two squirrel cage style blower fans on either side to get greater inlet, but otherwise she's good to go. The thermaltake fan controler is garbage, however. The original knob based controls fry'd c/o the 1amp draw of my big vantec 92mm fans. This should not have been the case, however, as there was a MINIMUM wattage for the second channel, but no maximum. I instead replaced them knobs w/ metal toggles. I counter-sank the aluminum plate and mounted the three position switches in place of the knobs. With the help of a 2 pair of 10W speaker resistors, I have OFF, SLOW, and BALLS TO THE WALLS options for both speed and sound of fans.

Ok, so it isn't any quicker than before, and the only REAL change to functionality is a tad more HD space...but still, it is HUNG. I constructed a rack out of 12 and 14 guage, zinc plated steel and grade 8 bolts. Why? Why not???. I am now scannin ebay for a decent multi-processor p3 xeon system of 2U size or less to fit above....just b/c i can.

Throw me some suggestions if ya want!

Ben

He's got some skills.

Good to see you back here, bro. I like how you mounted it to your loft bed there.
