I have 2 sticks of 3200 which didn't come with heat sinks... can anyone recommend a good option for installing heat sinks on these modules? Also - does one use thermal compound on memory heat sink installations?
Was pondering either...
or
Thanks,

i'm using some nice PNY gamers edition purple heatsinks and i like those(they also make them in copper). They were extremely easy to install, everything came with it. I have been wanting to get the TT active cooling though. _________________ Amd64 3200+ , Chaintech zenith NF3-250, Maxtor 80GB HDD, 1gb Corsair xms, Gainward golden sample 6800gt ,19" LCD , TT Butterfly PSU, Aspire X-superalien |

does your memory need the heatsinks?
depending on which kind of heatsink you use, i would use arctic silver thermal adhesive. make sure it isn't just thermal compound or paste but rather an adhesive. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

I agree with JayDubya, if you dont use the slip on heatsink adhesive will need to be used to hold the other kinds on. Be sure to choose the right color and all that you want before sticking them on because once it dries it dont come off.
I think the fan setup is a bit of an overkill to use on memory, they do get warm but not that hot even after turning up the voltage some.
The slip on kind would be the simple way to go.

Was just thinking of cooling in general... would it be better to have some rather than none?
Also pondering the type/dimensions of the heatsinks if I decide to bump up above the 2 modules I'm currently running(2x512).
Nemeskal - got a URL for those heatsinks?
Thanks,
