I'd like us to get started in the multiplayer gaming frenzy, specifically with Counterstrike. We all have Counterstrike here @ TweakNews and would like anyone and everyone else who has it (updated) and is interested in playing to post here in this thread.

I'd like to get atleast 8 people total including the TweakNews team signed up for this. Please post your general skill level and how long you've been playing the game so we can match up the players accordingly. We'll be teamed up according to our skill level so both teams are more or less even (this means the TweakNews staff won't be all on one team).

Let's shoot for the 1st half of January for a TweakNews LAN Party!

Let's get fraggin!

Anyone?

I can't be the only one here in the forums (besides the staff) that has Counterstrike installed...?

C'mon people - let's get a team setup! :)

Where do you all live? I have Unreal 2003 and CounterStrike 1.5 (non retail) .
1.6 is up for beta preview over steam but guess what I have 56k so thats out for me at least. Well the counter strike web site finally updated and they have the info there about steam beta2 and counter strike beta 1.6... Oh yeah I live in Illinois so as long as you guys are close to Illinois I'm up for it....but not if it's a long drive or possible flight..... Everday is like a lan party for me I have 2 P.C.'s and people usually just stop by with their computers, even though it's usually how do you do this blah blah can you fix this type of stuff, but then after problem or stupidity is fixed time to lan.

[edit]Hmm ok I now see that having a lan with you guys would be impossible for me seeing as how you are located in Texas.....not to mention The FRICKEN NETHERLANDS.......Damn talk about one far away Lan party......[/edit]

Hey Nick - I meant setup a LAN party via the net. I or someone else would Host the game, and we'd contact the participants with the IP address (and port number if necessary), then they'd connect via that IP.

I know it's not possible to setup a LAN party in person... atleast for all of us here at TweakNews.

Anyway, let me know if you're game and we can set one up! :)

But is that technically possible wouldn't setting up a network over the internet be considered a WAN (Wide Area Network)? Maybe I heard wrong but that's what I thought.

WAN - A wide area network (WAN) is a geographically dispersed telecommunications network. The term distinguishes a broader telecommunication structure from a local area network (). A wide area network may be privately owned or rented, but the term usually connotes the inclusion of public (shared user) networks.
In most cases a WAN is made up of LAN's, but at any rate I think you know what I meant

Besides many people, sites, etc consider this type of game a LAN Party aside from the actual definition where the network is local: all comps connected are inside the same building.

Let's get a Counterstrike game going next week where it's convenient for all of us. I have 2 friends that said they'll join in too: so if we get the whole staff together ontop of that we'll have 6 players total...lets get atleast another 2! :)

UT03
BF1942
MOHAA
all sound well enuf.

never tried CS so needless to say that I do not have it.

Shibui usually has a machine he keeps handy for servers...as well as do I.
His broadband in CA has a little better infrastructure than here in MI so his connection 'might' be better.
If MI is closer (geographically centered) for most then I can give it a go!
Comcast (AKA 'scam-cast') is supposed to up our upload speeds to 256K as of March 1, 2003.
I have a neighbor 3 blocks away (not sharing my node) that I can set up a server at, to avoid any complainst of "low LAN pings" if I must...

we both use cable.

Hmmm - have you tried playing Counterstrike DMW? If you have Half Life than you can download Counterstrike for free...I encourage you to check it out

Unfortunately I only have the demo to UT 2k3, so unless you all have the demo/or d/l it I can't join the game. I have the full version of MOHAA and Counterstrike as does a friend of mine, let's take a tally on what we have and from there we can decide what we can play and when.

Peer
Counterstrike
BF1942
UT2k3

Me
Counterstrike
MOHAA
UT2k3 - DEMO
BF1942 - DEMO

DMW
BF1942
MOHAA
UT2k3

Nathan and Burt?? List what you both have...

I get paid next week (damn Nortel and their every other week paychecks!) and i will be getting my copy of Unreal 2 from best buy...... anyone else up on this game yet?

I also have Jedi Knight.....really, a nicer game than I thought it was going to be!

OK folks, I know that we are spread out all over the place...but that doesn't mean a few can't organize a little something and get some sponsors together for a party.
Of course sponsors are only going to be necessary when housing accomidations will not suffice.

Long weekends and summer breakes are nearly upon us!

I am located in Michigan, sort of close to Detroit (too close at times.... lol )

I know that [TN]Nathan is 450 miles/ 728kil. from me.....anyone closer?

Everyone login with your GPS coordinates....hehe....
A city / state might be better tho!

First we see who can help...then what to play etc.

This is an old thread.

Jadison ripped off Tweaknews for 300 worth of computer hardware.

He was a reviewer and as soon as I sent him some hardware to review, he disappeared.

I would be down for a game of MOHAA. A buddy of mine might go for it too.

I am a mid level player and have radiop DSL. Not the best, but when cable and dsl are not available, you do what you need to so you dont do 56k.

Cheers
