hey, im plannin on gettin an sp-94 soon, along w/ a 92 mm fan. i got a question though... i dont want there to be a dead spot, so i wanna put a little more space between the heat sink and the fan. i've seen a lot of things about that curved thermaltake ducting mod, but that only supports 80mm fans (as far as i know) and i havent seen any bigger ones available.

so... the options that i've considered are just getting a 80 to 92mm fan adapter (cause the heat sink does support both 80 and 92), and just use the space it would make between the 2 to get rid of the dead spot. on the otherside, im wondering if reducing the immediate surface area on the heat sink fins from 92 to 80 would dampen the affect the fan would have.

another option would be to just buy a cheap 92 mm fan and simple use the outer casing of that fan and sandwich it between the real fan and heat sink to provide the space needed to remove the dead spot. although, would 25mm (since those fans are 92x25mm) be enough space to get rid of the dead spot, or would i have to use 2 or 3 cheap fan casings to eliminate it?

lastly, maybe just using some pvc (or pcv, pcc, however use say it lol) tubing of that size and cut it down to make a ghetto-fied duct would do the job. sooo i come to you guys asking for the Ub3r L33t advice: which would be the better option? or a better option that i havent thought about? any help would be much 'ppreciated :-)

i use that same setup, sp-94 with a 92mm fan, and with the brackets that are provided by the h/s makes the fan hover above the heatsink, it dosen't set directly on top of it. It's not a problem when it's on its side either, it fits snuggly parallel to the heatsink. So hope that helps as I'm sure it eliminates alot of the deadspot.
