Peer,

I am having serious problems. I just bought all my components for my new machine and can get it to work.

I hooked up the motherboard to the power supply and nothing. No power nothing. No boot up nothing. I have it hooked up according to what the limited book says but I am at wits end. I have an enlight case with a 340 watt power supply I only have 1 power supply cable hooked up --AMD 2.2 and that is all the book says I have to have.. I have the power supply switch in the place the manual says but notta...... ANY help is appreicated.

Peer,

Question-- could i have by putting the 2.2 cpu into this older epox motherboard fried that original motherboard since it wants to suck more power. I have noticed that it, with the 2.2 will only run for a few seconds and then shut down

I hope you are joking about the cpu being fried... $146--no way.. So if the cpu works and then not it fried.. Problem tonight I really dont have a way to be online since both machines will be down:( Will try..

So example the machine starts up and after 2-3 seconds the whole thing stops the cpu if fried?

Peer,

Thanks for all the help it is appreciated.

The Chaintech motherobard and the 2.2 are brand new from newegg.

2. The expos and 1.6 are older the epoox will support the 2.2 but doesnt anymore. I get the feeling the motherboard may be dead but any way to make sure? Test? Etc?

Well here is the scoop rma'd both the cpu and the mobo. Talked with some other techies and they feel that the cpu2.2 was the culprit and it killed the mobo then when I stuck it into, the cpu, into the epox mobo it killed that and then when I stuck the 1.6 into the killed mobo it killed that.

Best part is I ordered 2 mobo's and 2 cpu's both 1.9athlons and gigabyte mobo's got the first one going no problem .
Now the second machine starts for 1 second and then shuts down the mobo is working because it has a function light on it so I may be stuck with another back cpu--crazy! What do you think ?

Peer,

Do you think that it is the gigabyte GA 7VAX motherboard or the cpu. The motherboard light does light up like the other motherboard that works. :) At least I got one of the two to work. Can you imagine if both would have been doa.

So cpu or motherboard doa? I am guessing cpu?
What do you think?

Thanks for all the help will keep you informed.
