I'm a novice computer user. I have a HP notebook w/ built in wireless 802g? I have a netgear router w/ wireless capability again 802g. When I turn my computer on it works fine, but if I don't use the computer for an hour or two and come back, web pages don't load. I get unable to find server... Email also is not working at this time. The netgear icon in lower left corner of screen shows I'm getting "excellent signal strength" and speed of 54Mbps. I have to restart my computer and everything works great again. What gives!

Make sure that you have the latest firmware update for your Netgear router. I setup wireless for my mother on her new Dell laptop. The connectivity to the router would sporadically drop (even with the laptop in the same room as the router). I brought my laptop over to her house and had no problem staying connected to the router. I thought that she was having a problem with her mini pci wireless card. I ended up finding a white paper on Netgear's site stating that some laptops using "Centrino" technology will lose their connections every few minutes. After updating the firmware on my mom's router, this problem has stopped. Hope this helps.

P.S. you may also want to check that you have "power management" turned off for your wireless. If you are leaving the laptop running for a long time without doing anything on it, the power management may be turning off things that it sees as unnecessary (like your wireless card). You can usually do a "FN + F2" to turn your wireless card back on if it has been turned off by power management.
