I'm looking into building an HTPC. One of the first things I want to narrow down is a choice of case, since this thing'll be sitting out "for all to see", and I have to be mindful of that.
I believe I want to be able to have 2x5.25" external drive bays (one for DVD-ROM for playback and one for DVD+/-R(W) for burning), 1x3.5" external (for combination FDD and 6-in-one card reader) and 2x3.5" internal (one x 20GB HDD for the O/S and one x 120GB HDD for "work").
I also want to be able to put a "real CPU" inside, a full height AGP (ATI AIW, probably) and a full height PCI sound card.
I'll put in so-called "silent" fans for cooling, and add a wireless keyboard/mouse combo for those few times that I want to interact with it.
At least, that's the "plans", such as they are.
Now, back to the case: After a bunch of research, I think I've narrowed it down to the Coolermaster ATC-620 (Black, of course) [edited later the next day]. So my questions are:
1 - Anybody out there have any experience with this box?
2 - Anybody know (for a fact) a reseller in Canada of this? (Bigfoot seems to be the only CM dealer in Canada, and they don't have it listed, although they'll probably order it, if I ask nicely)
3 - Anybody have any alternate suggestions?
PS: I like the Shuttles and the MSI boxes (especially the Mega 651, but they're just "too cramped", and the mini-flex mobo seems to be a PITA to find, and seems to lock you into a specific processor. |
