Hey,
How's it going?

Usually, double-clicking on a regular folder in my Windows XP will lead to the opening of the folder. However, something went wrong, and now everything I double-click a folder, it goes to the "Search" menu. I decided to right-click instead, and when the Context Menu appeared, the word Search was on top and in bold (which is usually what the word Open should be in).

Can you please help me? It gets pretty annoying...

Thanks,

I look into this deeper, but for now have you tried this?

1) Go to Start -> Select My Documents (You should have My Documents listed in your Start Menu in WinXP, if not then LMK)

2) Once you're in My Documents go to Tools -> Folder Options -> towards the bottom select Restore Defaults

3) Select the View tab and select Restore Defaults -> Hit OK

Now, if this doesn't work LMK and I'll find a solution to your problem...

Thanks a lot for the help, Jadison, but after trying that several time (including restarting the computer and hoping that it'll take effect after a restart), it still did not work.

If you can continue to work on this problem of mine, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Found a solution, thanks for your attempt to help though! =)

If you wanna know how to solve it as well (for future references or whatever), go here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321186

The funny thing is that on that Microsoft page, it said that the error was caused by my going to the File Folder thing, but I have never gone there before =P

Thanks,

Sorry I didn't get you a solution bud, hehe...I was swamped with work the last couple days.

Glad you found it tho, and thanks for posting the solution :)

Funny indeed, but then again that's Windows for ya -> sometimes little errors and quirks find themselves on our system without us doing a single thing.

I'm more than happy that you can help me out once in a while, so there is no way that I would blame you for not helping me earlier.

And yes, I must agree, that's Windows and Microsoft, we can't forget that =P And, luckily enough for me and others, there are people like you who know a bit more than I do... hehe

Thanks again,
