Hey, i have seen offers for WinXP PRO OEM version for like.. 60 bucks. Is that a good deal, or is it bunk?

I need winXP pro but i dread having to pay 140 for the OS. Any suggestions?

Good deal, but you probably will have to buy a computer to get it or a computer component.

WINXP for 140 is a good deal and I wouldn't be complaining about it.

i know where i work, you can get the winXP OEM but you have to buy a harddrive at the same time... i figure it's worth it cause i mean, a hard drive + winxp OEM is still much cheaper than just WinXP Retail Box

Watch anything on Ebay.

I currently don't know of any XP CD shipping with SP1 installed.

Though, I may be wrong.

I think you should just install an old os and then buy the upgrade version.

upgrade version and reg version are the same

except upgrade vers. checks for old os's.

or have kids, either way you get to buy academic version. and yes they are the same, I

guess it's like a price deduction for people who are students, or have students or kids.

One thing I wonder is why people are using XP pro?

Do we really need the extra networking stuff for a normal computer?

No, we don't, I myself pretty much prefer win2000NT as it is my main os.

I think win2000Nt would load faster than xp pro. too

Well theres no differance and at zip zoom fly its $82 and you don't need to be a student because they ask no questions, but you have to buy another computer part with it.
