|
|
I'm building a new system with an AMD 2000+ XP. When the system boots up, it is telling me that it is running at 1250 MHZ. I thought that it was a faster chip than that, or am I just mistaken.
I am still using PC 100 RAM (still waiting on my 512 PC2100 DDR to come in any day now), could that have something to do with it??
I'm upgrading from my AMD K6/2 350, so I'm a bit behind.
Thanks in advance,

|

It's a PC Chips mother board (not exactly sure of model number, I'm at work and don't have access to it.).
I know it is a cheepie board, but it will do for now. It was a package deal at a local computer show. Case, mobo, processor for 190$ out the door. I needed another case (building nephew a system with my old 350mhz) so it seemed ok. Like I said, it will do for now.... Christmas IS comming, lol..
Thanks for all the help. I'm new on this site and I enjoy all the info it has on modding and overclocking..

All that is required is to go into your bios and go into the voltage/freqency section of the menu and go to cpu speed and change it to 133/133 to reflect the ram and the FSB of the XP cpu, it will boot up as a XP then. That is all that is required. _________________ Owner & Administrator

I bumped it up to 133/133 and ran burn-in on it for an hour. No crashes, no errors. It is now running at 1.661Ghz (stock). Thanks for everyone's help here.
I've read many posts on here and will be getting a Chaintech soon (maybe Christmas).. That seems to be the Bobo of choice, but, that is a different post.
Thanks all
