Will an LCD screen last longer than a CRT one? & how long should they last?
Thanks. |

CRT's tend to last longer *agreeing with Peer*...there's also the fact that the pixels on the actual LCD have a shorter lifespan than CRT's.
But believe me...just like most of the products that come in/with a PC you'll have upgraded them before they fulfill their lifespan, atleast in most cases.
So, if you're inbetween choices consider the following:
--If you rely heavily on graphx, i.e. ur a gamer, graphx designer, CAD, etc then go with a CRT!
--If you surf the net, play music, the occasional game, and other non-graphx intensive apps then go with the TFT LCD's as they are easier on the eyes...AND they save deskspace! :) |

nevertheless i ordered a tft .... just to save my eyes a little and have some more deskspace.

Indeed, the lifespan question versus average # of years one would use any display before upgrading doesn't seem to pose a problem with either TFTs or CRTs... your display will most likely outlive your requirements.
However, the real question remains : how much money are you ready to spend ? ... I mean : given the same desktop area (screen area, not desk space) i.e. 15 or 17" diagonal AND given the resolution you prefer using, i.e. 1024x768 or 1280x1024, etc. Is saving some space on your work area worth the 3x to 5x price factor of a TFT vs CRT to you ?
I'm not favouring a CRT over a TFT (or vice versa); just pointing some of the real issues...
Any comments ? |
