wait wait wait... 4992.. u sure ure not on 3dmark03?

if its 3dmark01, something is wrong w/ ure card/setup. Get the latest drivers for your motherboard AGP/SIS whatever as well as latest drivers for your graphics card.

what motherboard are u using?
what manufacturer is ure gfx card?

no that seems about right from what i remember, was able to get 6000 using a p4 2.4@3.3 with an FX5200 overclocked. they aren't all that good... meant for cheap basic use... not hardcore gamers

Sounds like you might want to go into your bios and set your AGP bus to 4-8x AGP

i believe that aperture size is the extra virtual memory given to the graphics card.
So, supposedly, the more the better, i did have success with my Ti4200 from going 64mb to 128mb.

back to the score of ure fx 5200.. wow, my ti4200 gets 12000 marks in 3dmark01

the ampature size thing in bios i think went up to like more than 512 should i raise it to the max? I cant beleive that i got 4992 when someone with a geforce 3 got 5500 and someone with a geforce 2 mx got like 4600, theres gotta be something wrong. I have the latest driver and when i went to bios i could not find anything about 4x or 8x, i know my board has 1 8x agp. what could be the problem?

How fast is your computer?

The AGP Aperature size should be set to 128 megs.

You could have a slow budget model of the FX5200.

Other than that, you will have to go into the display settings and tweak your DirectX performance settings.

What motherboard?

Do you have one or two sticks of memory?

Do you have your memory in dual channel configuration?

There is the problem, you are not running in Dual channel configuration.

Dual channel doubles the memory bandwidth and will greatly increse your videocard benchmarking.

You will need to buy a dual channel memory kit which will consist of 2-256meg (512megs)sticks of memory which you place in the first and third memory slot.

You cannot get dual channel configuration with a single stick of ram.

really? so if i had 2 256 sticks how much faster woud it be? i think i will get an other 512 ddr stick, my ram is 3200 400mhz.
will this improve my preformance in 3dmark2001?

you will essentially double your memory bandwidth and your 3dmark scores should jump by 25-50%.

Right now, your videocard isn't being fed enough information to effectively pump out as much frames per second as it intends to.

By another 512meg stick, pop it into the 3rd ram slot, and you should see a drastic difference.

Try to get the EXACT memory as the stick you already have.

you have to get identical sticks because they have to match and perform exactly like each other seeing they are working together at the same time.

Any differences and they will be potentially unstable.

Nathan, no need to answer this, ill get it for u.

knight, nate knows what hes talking about. Dual channel DOES double the bandwith of your memory, you will definately see a difference.

Only thing i'd recommend, is a graphics card change. It may be a sort of a bottleneck for you if you are going to be wanting to play top of the line games such as HL2, doom3, HALO.
I would recommend anything nathan says.. maybe a ATI Radeon 9600 pro or 9700 pro, they can perform.

verTO is right; the FX 5200 is a budget card and is meant to the latest games at the lowest detail levels. It is the MX version of the FX series.

If you are going to listen to verTO and upgrade your card, then like he said, a Radeon 9600, 9700 or 9800 Pro card will do a fine job. There is really no point in going with nVidia because their cards have been proven to be slower than their ATI counter-parts.

Very true, but I think he should save his money, get another stick of ram, and he will be happy with the performance increase with his videocard.

I was using a FX5200 ultra and I was playing BF1942 and it performed very well.

Update your ram and I think you will be very happy with the performance increase and you won't have to update your videocard.
