I don't know much about acrylic cases, but I am thinking of buying one for my new system. Are they very fragile and does anyone know if the static has potential to damage any of the PC's components.

I was also looking at a koolance case but I would rather using a water cooling kit it an acrylic case. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

Thanks

the acrylic cases are very, very cool, however, there are certain things you should keep in mind. i purchased one such case, but then returned it to get a lian li instead (very many different reasons).

for the acrylic case, don't worry about the static. as for them being fragile, don't worry about that either.. the panels are fairly thick. the one thing to keep in mind however is that they don't have any type of brace for the psu. it's held by screws and screws only. before i returned my acrylic case, i had purchased a small brass L bracket that i was going to screw into the right panel to act as a brace.

also, you have to watch for fingerprints... you put the case together with gloves and do a lot of cleaning to keep it sharp looking (and without fingerprints).

next up, you pretty much have to have all of the components and put it together all in once shot. by that i mean, when you remove the right panel to install a device, the motherboard is coming out too because it is attached to that panel. so you have to get all of your devices in before getting the mobo in... and then hope that you don't have to swap any devices.

can't think of anything else right now.

Yes, I have built several computers but I don't have much experience with case modding and such and was unsure about it.
thanks

On the other hand they look very cool. My current system is an acrylic case with everything uv reactive, When i get home I'll post some pictures for you guys to see.

Roger, I agree with you are saying completely, but the coolness factor is a big plus. Of course it doesn't make your computer any faster, it just looks unike.

Very true, and many major companies such as Intel etc.. are adopting the clear acrylic PC case for demonstration purposes.

And it looks da shiznit!

Very very nice!!!!!

One thing I could suggest is using some cable ties and combining a lot of those wires together in one bunch to allow for better case air flow.

yea i've thought that, the thing is once you sleeve the wires, they loose a lot of they're flexibility, so it makes it harder to bundle up and hide. I also want to get shorter ide cables, sice the 24 inch ones that came with the motherboard are way too long

you don't have to hide them, all you have to do it group them together, cable tie them and tie them off to the side to allow for better front intake airflow.
