Well TN people, I haven't really gone anywhere, I just post very little now days. I guess I don't have much to say.
Well, today I do.
I am the only survivor left doing D2OL crunching under the [TN] team name. A few days ago it was announced that, D2OL as a project,
will end on April 15, 2009. This coming to an end of an era brings mixed emotions for me. Lots of things have changed in that time. I
started out in 2004 with old P3's getting just a few candidates a day and just kept building more power as things came along. I
obtained 3 dual Xeon machines from weaZ in late 2006 when he decided Jeepin' was his new project. (awesome Jeep, BTW) Two of those
machines still function with only HDD and fan replacements. The MB failed on the one unit. Besides those units I run a Q6600, and a
Q9400 full time. I run my Q9450 part time and a couple odd Northy's.
[TN] as a team is currently number 6 behind only Dutch Power Cows, Extreme Systems, ARS Technica, AMD Users and Soft.
I currently am #3 individual user with over 1.4M candidates.
I have 3 of the top 10 nodes, and 2 top 5 drug candidates.
It was a good run. I won't know how to act not checking online stats in the morning. My lab will be cooler. My power bill should go
down.
I'll have computers not doing anything unless I can find some other project. I'm not very excited about some of the current ongoing
endeavors. It would be cool to start on a new project, ground floor-ish. Alas, I don't know of any new distributed computing projects
out there.
Any suggestions? Anybody involved in anything they're excited about? Or, should I just retire.

Hey there. Forums everywhere are dying off a little bit seeing most peopel are IMing rather than posting on a message board. It's just the times really. Everything is so fast and relatively trouble free, they dont' need the help they needed years ago.
As for the computing, pm me, I might have something to offer you. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Yeah, its sad that so many things I have loved over the years have slowly faded and died. These boards were once the first thing I checked when I powered on my PC, now the only posts I find are new reviews. While I still enjoy reading those, its not the same as the banter and chat that used to go on here. It seems google that was once our friend (it braught many here, including me) has killed the need for tech boards. If you have a problem, google will show you an answer. That and IMing as Nate said have replaced forums for the most part.
Sad to hear about D2OL closing down, yet another thing outgrown by the industry _________________ Phenom II x4 955 @ Stock

Congrats 2o2c!
I see that you put those machines to good use. Very well done sir.
One of the dual xeon systems is still chugging away at my brothers house as a gaming machine. Amazing what an overclocked dual xeon with HT machine can still do.
After I fell off the face of the earth I got into jeeps as 2o stated and slowed greatly on the computer builds. I currently run an AMD X2 5200+ with a ATI Radeon 4850 video card on an ASUS FX790 motherboard. Just a solid inexpensive set-up. But is a far cry from the old systems I was building. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

If you are looking for a new project, look at folding@home... you also have many others under the BOINC platform... Right now I am running GPU and CPU clients of Folding@home and the same with SETI@home _________________ P4 3.2ghz
