Sup guys
I really haven't been on here in quite awhile. Can't even remember when the last time I checked up here was. I've been extremely busy lately trying to finish up school (Only one year left ) and working. But the pc that I first built, several years ago, is finally about to be obsolete. I'm not exactly sure what I want to build. I need some thoughts on what are the good cpu's and mother boards out right now. I will probably not use anything out of my old pc since it is so out of date. I couldn't even use a sata hdd in it and I only have a 75 gig one since it was so hard to find serial ones. So that means I will need a new case, psu and whatever else.
I'm either going to do the pc build, or get a new monitor. My old one is a CRT and it is getting harder to move around. I'll have to probably pay for it a bit at a time when I get my paychecks, so I'll have plenty of time to get caught on the current hardware. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

Let's see; DFi LanParty mobo, AMD Athlon 2500+, 1GB of ram, 9600XTis the heart of it. Optical drives are nothing special, I think 8x dvd burner. Hdd died on me a couple months ago. I tried SATA but it wouldn't work with my mobo. So I had to use the old on from my mom's very first compaq. It's only 75 gigs and I am quickly running out of space. My case is an old aspire case with a low wattage psu. My monitor is a NEC FE700 CRT.
I think that covers about everything. I am starting to use Photoshop and other editing programs alot and need something that can run those smoothly. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

Yea, its time for an upgrade.
I would recommend a Intel 6600 quad, 2 gigs of ddr2, a 320gig drive and a decent but not enthusiest motherboard to save money.
Also an 8800GTX wouldn't hurt and their prices are dropping since they launched both the 9800gtx and the GTX280 lately.
Keep the optical drives if they serve your purpose, stick to Windows XP and get a good 20 inch LCD monitor. I recommend Samsung seeing they are about as good price:performance ratio out there. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Thanks Nate, that is pretty close to what I had in mind. Nothing to amazing, but will be a nice upgrade and expandable later on.
And thanks a ton for the input. This place got me really interested in computers several years ago when I did my first build, and I can't wait to put another one together. _________________ Love Is Not Enough... |

We are soon going to swing back into main computer components.
Mainboards, Videocards and CPUs will be coming in more plentiful soon. _________________ Owner & Administrator
