Hi again all,
I'm reinstalling Windows XP on my laptop and it has managed to get to 10 minutes remaining on the "installing windows" bullet in the installation screen. Then it does nothing... for hours. So it's not a lack of patience on my part
I have tried it approximately 10 times now to no avail. However, I have managed to reinstall windows (with the same disc) once before. I don't understand why it's doing this now. I suspect that given it crashes at the exact same point everytime it's probably caused by a bad sector on the XP disc of the HD disc itself. However, there are no scratches on the XP cd.
Sounds like the hardware might be overheating and locking up.
I would copy it to another disc and try again, but maybe you might want to take some compressed air to the cpu cooler vents to clear out some dust bunnies.
You would be azazed to see what came out of my gf's comp when I gave it a shot or air. Big puff of dust. _________________ Owner & Administrator
