Hi again all,

My pc randomly resets itself, and sometimes it won't even boot back up into windows. When it does boot back up, windows tells me it has just recovered from a serious error.

Below are the details of the error.

C:\DOCUME~1\Simeon\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER159c.dir00\Mini091007-01dmp
" " " " " " " " \sysdata.xml

I am using xp pro sp2.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Go to the AVG website and download the antivirus and antispyware apps. Run them and see if that helps. Also, does the PC just restart or do you get a BSOD?

To help see if its a hardware or software error do this

rightclick my computer -> properties -> advanced tab -> Startup and recovery settings -> uncheck "Automatically restart"

If the PC now freezes with a blue screen you could have a corrupt OS or alternatively faulty RAM

If it still restarts you most likely have a more serious hardware issue, make sure your temps are OK and make sure all the innards are seated properly inside the PC. If needs be remove the RAM and GFX card and reseat them.

Hope this helps.

check your cpu temperatures.

Those are errors usually caused by overheating.

^^^^Like Nathan said^^^

Undo your OC and see if it goes away. (will reduce the heat)

If that fixes it, you may want to re-evaluate your memory and cpu voltages, whilst monitoring temperatures.

Dumps are commonly memory errors or cpu/northbidge errors.

Thanks for the input folks.

I tried a memeory test and it crashed 3 or 4% through. I took out the ram and put it back in and things have been much more stable (so far) since then. I just moved homes and I suppose it's entirely possible the ram was slightly dislodged or something.

I have stopped the OC for now just in case too.

Thanks for the tips everyone.
