Hey guys, long time no posts eh?
Well I'm trying to get a friends computer running smoothly. After going into msconfig and disabling many of the startup programs, she's having trouble logging into certain websites like facebook and our schools email system. I've tried clearing the cookies and cache but that hasn't helped out. It's doing it for Iexplorer and Firefox if that helps at all.
Anything you guys come up with would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Go back in and re-enable everything in msconfig, and see if she still has the problem. If everything works, disable one thing at a time, and test the logins. I never just blindly shut down stuff, some of those "unneccesary programs" are actually needed for secure logins and such. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Couple of questions:
Did the probelm begin once you disabled the items in msconfig or was it before that?
When you say problems logging on, does that mean it works sometimes and cuts out sometimes or is it a constant problem?
Have you checked her internet settings. I would try to move all of her internet settings to low security and then try to see if there is any change. If something changed in there then it might deny the logon request from the servers.
Also I would disable windows firewall while you are troubleshooting this just to rule it out from the list of possible sources for your problem.
