So many questions.....

OK, I've been rolling back to a previous date on System Restore every time I try to update to XP 2. Why? Because the updates change the formats of my jpegs. They end up behaving like bmps where you can go in and edit them like bmps. I don't like this because I would rather utilize the scroll arrows to view jpegs with the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer option.

I know the new service pack is essential to protect the computer, but is there a way to retain the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer option?

One way to set the default action for .jpg file to preview is...
  1. Right click on a jpg and select "Open With" -> "Choose Program..."
  2. Select "WIndows Picture and Fax Viewer"
  3. Check the box for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
  4. Click OK

Thanks for the help. I've tried the default before. I don't remember achieving the results I wanted, but I'll look at that again.

Try going through the updates one by one....see if you can nail down which one does it.

Or...is it just the upgrade from SP1 to 2

Adobe has a picture viewer program that is identical to the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer program. Its a plugin/addon i believe that comes with acrobat 5.0
