Are they both fresh install of the OS...with nothing else installed?

Is all the hardware identical?

You following me here?

If you have ONE program that sends info to the net....youll be transferring more packets...

One is a dell laptop the other is a home computer with a dying motherboard. Both run the same poker clients, MSN messenger skype and firefox.

One problem may be the laptop uses the ethernet port as a wireless port too but i dont know. Any ideas on how to improve the situ or is just because he is on a laptop its not requesting as much as the desktop

I think what TH is getting at is that unless you're both running identical machines. i.e. Same EVERYTHING (Including programs running at the time of testing) chances are your'e not going to get the same amount of packets sent and received.

As for improving the flow. That all depends on system resources being used up. Myabe close some programs. Possibly upgrade some hardware to improve system resources. From what I am to understand, you should stay away accelerator programs. It's basically like putting on a 15 pound backpack that claims to make you run faster.
