|
|
I just clicked OK to update my Firefox browser, and now I can't connect to the interenet.
I tried reinstalling by downloading Firefox 2.0 and rebooting, but I still can't connect to the internet. Meanwhile, I can share folders with my other computer so there is some sort of connection, but I still get the SERVER NOT FOUND white screen when I try to go onto the internet. I'm running windows 98 and my connection was fine before the update.
A couple of internet shortcuts on my desktop changed from the orange Firefox type logo to the blue E explorer logo. The Firefox shortcut is there, but it's dead.
Why would updating Firefox lose my internet connection????
Any help would be appreciated, thanks. _________________ Girl Scout Cookies: It's what's for dinner. |

Does IE work? If so, then the update changed a setting in Firefox......... _________________ Big enough to scare you |

As far as I can tell, IE doesn't work. I click on either of those E icons and get an error message:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in My Computer by clicking View and then clicking Folder Options." _________________ Girl Scout Cookies: It's what's for dinner. |

Somehow the connection came back.
I uninstalled Firefox 2.0.0.2, which was giving me problems (lots of bug reports for the new version on their website) and installed 2.0.01. _________________ Girl Scout Cookies: It's what's for dinner. |

Next time that happens, where you can see a connection to your network but it won't allow to view a web page, try resetting your router and modem. Just unplug them both and hold the reset button on the router for a few seconds. Then you just plug them both back in. That has worked for me anytime my internet starts getting screwy. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"
