Ok. I disassembled my IBM thinkpad R-40 and i was wondering if it is possible to hook up the LCD from it to my radeon 9250 . I was also wondering if their was a way to possibly splice the cable from a CRT monitor and connect them somehow with the laptop LCD. any suggestions?

Yeah, I wanted to use 2 old toshiba LCDs with my PC and ran into a load of resounding "not possibles" when I searched the web for it. AFIK it IS possible but would require you have a degree in electronics and know how to design curcuit boards. No simple fix I'm afraid.

I've seen it done, a while ago. Guy added a 12" laptop LCD to the side of his desktop case, but it was a long, tedious process, and the guy was an engineer.

Even with a degree in engineering, you'd be nearly SOL if you can't get a schematic of the R40 to find out what signal is carried on each wire on the ribbons. Otherwise, there would be a lot of guessing and testing involved (while hopefully not frying anything).
