Link?

Basically, with a laptop, you're going to want to make sure it'll work with the parts you want, and if the optical drive it comes with isn't modular (say, a redular DVD/CD burner combo, but you want a faster, DVD DL burner) changing it can be an issue.......either you get whichever model matches the connector, or you have to dink around with wiring to change out the backplate and power/drive connector to match your notebook.

Also figure what you're going to use it for. There's no word on Meron power consuption yet, so if you're looking for a portable with good battery life, you might want to revise your proc choice.

Anyway, get a link up, doofus!

ooooh shiny....me wants... any report on potential price of one of these?

I should feel somewhat bad about dumping AMD after years of support, but oh well...

Looks good...........a couple of things to keep in mind, though.

It doesn't look like it comes with a wireless card (just says support for one, and an on-off switch), so make sure you can get a compatible card. I think NewEgg carries them, but they're hard to find.

Also, make sure you're positive which video card you want: they're NOT interchangeable. If you get the X1600 model, you'll be getting a mobo that supports that GPU formfactor. If you decide the X1600 sucks, and want the nVidia 6800, you're out of luck...........unless you want to swap the entire mobo. See if you can get more specific info on the mobo, and what other differences there might be between the nVidia based and ATI based models. Shouldn't be any, other than the GPU socket, but it never hurts to be sure.

As of right now, I would recommend the 7600. It's not really any better a performer, but it draws less juice, so it'll give you a bit more battery life.

Depends on what you are using it for, graphics, or messing around more with video.

If you watch a lot of compressed video, go with the ATI, the AVIVO architecture has hadrware accleration for DiVX and H264. Makes a big difference in terms of the actual image quality you get while viewing. Less artifacting and an overall clearer image with better color rendition (the the choice of screens they put in may temper any results you actually see).

7600 is a better performer though in terms of 3D performance (again, depending on the game).

1600 may do better on more memory intensive games (MMO's in particular) due to the ringbus architecture.

Really just depends on what you will be usig it for chiefly.

It will act as a portable media center, something I can take on long trips... (swim meets in my case, LAST FOREVER) I will need it for movies, music, games, internet, word processing, a little DJ'ing, etc...
