Well, its about damn time!
My birthday was last month, so my brother (sandnessizer) got me an XP90c wtih LGA775 adapter and silent cat 92mm fan. I bought for myself ( ) a CoolerMaster Cavalier3 case.
Here are some pictures of the swap:
The old setup....eww.
Some thermal paste on the processor.
Some paste on the face of the heatpipe.
The board mounted.
The XP 90c mounted.
Isn't she purdy?
PSU and video card are in.
Other cards and drives are in.
Door fan mounted, but later removed.
Running
Running
Running
So I am please thus far with performance. My CPU booted at 41C and is under full load now @ 52C. The system as a whole in noticably quieter w/o the Intel stock cooler screaming inside of the case at whatever speed it decides.
I would like to say that the build quality and craft that went into this case is quite amazing. I purchased it from ebay user CoolerPlanet as a refurbished item. Although it was supposed to included a windowed panel, I am still quite satisfied. (I am hoping to still get the window out of the deal yet).
Here's a rundown of the stats incase anyone cares:
Intel P4 550 3.4GHz @ 3.58GHz
Intel PBLL 915 Motherboard
MSI GeForce 6600 256MB PCIe Graphics Card
Fortron 500W PSU
3Com Network Adapter
Maxtor ATA133 controller card
Maxtor 60GB ATA133 HD
WD Raptor 10kRPM 36GB HD
NEC DVD +/- R/RW
Samsung SyncMaster 710MP LCD
Glad to be amongst the ranks of less ugly cases. _________________ |¤

very nice!
Just spend some time on cable management and you will be all set!
That's a good drop in cpu temp as well. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

That's lookin hot. I'm guessing it is like 1/2 to 2/3 the weight of the old setup as well. _________________ •Asus P5K SE •Q6700 •4GB G.Skill •BFG 512MB GeForce 8800GT

Yeah, this case is DEFINITELY lighter. I'll post pics once my cables are managed. That was about the best I could do with the 2 twisties I had on my desk. I need to get some wire ties to beautify some more. I'd really like to get that windowed side panel that I should have gotten in the first place. It feels good to have something classier. _________________ |¤

I should also note that I just recieved word from the ebay seller that he will be shipping me a new side panel. All is well in ecommerce land. _________________ |¤

Nice Sally, I was checking that case out for a while but decided the purchase was not a priority, glad to see someone with it though. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"
