Ok guys, its getting close (6 months) to the time where my company will be considering upgrading my rig. The rig is for my daily audio work, which includes:

1. Multiple simultaneous CD burning.
2. Large audio file sampling and editing.
3. Constant labor, meaning cant be waiting to burn or sample before i use it.
4. Large Storage Space.
5. Multi channel recording (have hardware already)
6. And of course....common web browsing and entertainment...lol

It does NOT need good grafix. Ive been dealing fine with the MX440 that is currently in here. I would however NOT be ok with integrated grafix. I need all the RAM for the labor. Similarly....case is not important either.

Any ideas guys? I would like to stay with Pentiums as they have treated me very well with all of my multimedia needs.....im a little behind on the latest stuff.

For now dont worry about budget.....but if i HAD to put a budget on it i would say close to like $3k.

Thanks for all of your ideas!!!!!!!!!!

You, my friend, will prolly be building a Core Duo aka Conroe machine, with the time frame of 6 months. All the "poop" from ppl who've played with them seems to be quite favorable, and reports say the pricing will be less than previous new processors.
The next couple months should prove interesting.

yes, Core 2 Duo, at least 2 gigs ram (as always I suggest Patiot mem) an EMU sound card, or an XF-I... whichever has the features you need, an Nvidia 7600, (lower if you wish) Seagate Perp rec 750 gig hdd. (or more) and at most a 600 W PSU
