when windows "doesn't like" the copy of windows you're running??

Buy a legit copy of Windows.

If it is legit, then you'll need to contact MS with your serial number, the install CD ID number, date and place of purchase, and they'll fix the problem for you. If it's a store-bought rig, with a "restore CD" setup, you'll need to contact that vendor.
