Yeah Glad to see my parts again... I sure do miss that Asus board. I just found all my manuals, and even the Sticker that tells of all the parts and locations in the motherboard.

Well, six months can't go by without building something.

I started this maybe 3-4 weeks ago. I had a couple of setbacks, the major of which was, I was sick for a week. sad4
This is my new work computer. I own it, It's mine, but I use it at work, I built it at work, (another reason it took a little longer) and needless to say most ppl who see me as "a puter nerd" see me at work. It definetely is catching some looks, as most of these ppl can't even comprehend a "watercooled computer." Yet a dual core, OC'd, whisper quiet monster, w/24" monitor.

Let's start with a CPU.....

(it's really just an early release OEM D960, but it looks cool) Very Happy

A little water check.

Closer to done.

Get it on my desk.

My side of desk.

Okay, first post over....benchies and details after dinner. Very Happy

Dinner was pretty good, I might just do it again tomorrow night. Very Happy

So, it's a D960 on a P5DW2 with 2 gig of Corsair XMS memory. A BFG 7600GT, Antec NeoHE 550, Plextor 750A, in a Zorro case and a Dell 24" monitor. Water cooling is a hodge-podge a stuff, but turned out quite well. Remember this computer is a workin' machine and is for multi-taskin' do anything kinda work.
Overall I'm real pleased with the outcome. I did some playing with it (of course) and have settled with just over 4 gig as my running speed. It will go higher of course , but that XMS memory can hold it's 4-4-4-4-12 timings @ 1.9 volts at this speed and the core can stay down under 1.3 volts which makes for a nice 48 to 50C full load temp with the fan turned down to whisper. So this is where it will prolly stay.

So here's a stock (3.6G) run at 3D05, just to show how suprised and pleased I am with the 7600GT.

And a cpu-Z shot.

Before Weaz calls me on the multi....I did set it to 18 full time, I think CPU-z is funky. Windows reports it as 4.01Ghz though.

I also ran one of these passmark performance tests just for S&G's.

Well, that's it folks, I had to build little something just to bump my thread.

Very nice build! That is a monster of a work computer. In fact I think that tops my dual xeon oc'ed to 3.0 ghz for a work/ browsing computer.
I think I am going to wait till conroe/next gen vid cards/vista is out before I build a new unit.

Thx weaZ, well I do some graphics and other stuff at work that is a bit more intense than a spread sheet. But, my old work compy mobo took a dump, and I temporarily replaced it with a 845 chipset mobo, and it just wasn't doin it for me. This gave me a bit of an opportunity to show off my ware's, as well as have a major upgrade.
I replaced a 21" crt with that lcd and it makes a big difference in eye/brain strain. I swear I was gettin brain scanned by an electron beam all day.
I'm really happy with it so far.

The LCDs are alot easier on the eyes. I still need to replace a few of the monitors at the house. But doing that isn't that high of a priority.

Not really a big whoop, but here's a little guy I built that had to be within a size limitation.
E6300, 1G Corsair XMS 6400, P5B-VM using the onboard video, in a CM case.
More details about it in other sections.

Well, 2Y got puter parts for Xmas and his January Bday....and here's what happened.
BTW: He's changed quite a bit since [ http://www.tweaknews.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3149&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75 ] He's 17 yo and like six foot tall :0

Specs are: Q6600, MSI P6N SLI Platinum, 4G mushkin, PC P&C Silencer 610, 2X Seagate 250G R0, and 2X eVGA 8600GTS w/512 GDR3. The case is Enermax Chakra. Clocked to 2.8G+ all day long.

My goal was to put the power into the smaller, clean looking mid ATX case, while staying dead quiet. I'm fairly happy with how this build turned out.

Very nice build there 2o!

I would love to put up another new build but I haven't been doing to much other than playing with my Jeep, working and spending time with the family.

Thx weaZ.
Good to hear from you...demands of work and family can be quite time consuming.
Pop in to the old forums once and a while.
